Ping Assistant: AI for Accountants

It's not too often that I find a self-proclaimed AI tool for accountants that I am fond of. It's nothing personal against the software companies or the technology. Artificial intelligence has been around for a while in the tax world, Gruntworx anybody? But since ChatGPT, whom I infectiously refer to as Chat Daddy, has hit the scene, it has put a bad taste in my mouth.

AI has become a crutch for people who use it as a final answer rather than a starting point for research. Even AI for accountants. That's why when I found one that helps people to enhance their service offerings in their accounting firms, I had to share it. Ping Assistant is the AI Assistant for accountants that you will want in your firm.

Today, I'll give you a brief introduction and just lay out the facts. Next week, I'll share why you need to make Ping Assistant the next addition to your tech stack to enhance client communication and your marketing.

But for now, here is what you need to know.

What is Ping Assistant?

Ping Assistant is the AI assistant for advisory-focused accounting firms. Client Intelligence - a living knowledge base that captures context from every client interaction, e-mail, and document, is what powers it. With that context, Ping automates admin work, helps you scale advisory services, and ensures your firm never loses client knowledge with turnover.

Is Ping Assistant U.S.-based? Who Created It?

Yes, Ping is US-based in Draper, UT. Ping was co-founded by Camden Bean and Chad Holmes, along with a small team of accounting-tech and AI builders.

Camden is the son of a CPA and spent years at fintech leader Divvy. There, he built accounting partnerships. Then launched a $100M venture fund investing in early-stage software with Tandem.

Chad has developed software at a large enterprise consisting of UKG and Instructure. He is also a key member of the development team that led to Pattern's IPO. His technical superpower is integrations and implementing AI in a meaningful way.

How is Ping different than any other notetaker?

General tools will give you general results. Camden and Chad built Ping only for accounting firms. So the notes and processes are only for accountants. They don’t have to build features that accountants don’t care about.

Note-takers are amazing tools. There is a seemingly endless number of notetakers in the market. To answer that question, we have two questions

Would you rather have a general tool or a tool built only for accounting firms?

  1. Would you rather have a general tool or a tool built only for accounting firms?

  2. What do you do with the notes?

Ping’s meeting capture tool is a Meeting Assistant because it does so much more than just take notes. Every meeting you have is building Client Intelligence. The information builds on the living knowledge base of your client to help with automations, Custom AI Tools, and coaching.

Some of the out-of-the-box automations we have:

  • Push information into the systems you’re using.

  • Assigning action items instantly.

  • Prep notes before the meeting.

  • Follow-ups drafted in your tone.

  • Cross-sell opportunities surfaced automatically.

It’s not just a notetaker—it’s the client brain your firm has always needed.

How does Ping Assistant keep client data safe?

Ping is for firms that live and die on trust. So they:

  • Store data in secure, SOC-compliant environments.

  • Encrypt data in transit and at rest.

  • Give you control over what information goes into Client Intelligence.

  • Never sell client data—Ping exists to protect it.

How much time can Ping Assistant save my firm?

Client Intelligence built with Ping can save you hours a week by eliminating simple admin tasks. Things like drafting emails, syncing tasks and systems, and querying information.

Their custom AI tools can drive huge time savings when we find the right issue to automate. One firm was spending 15 minutes after each client meeting to transcribe their thoughts into their team’s work management system. Ping automated that process, saving 90+ partner hours just in EOY strategy meetings.

I am an Enrolled Agent, not a traditional accountant. How can Ping Assistant help me?

Enrolled Agents face the same challenges as CPAs: mountains of client context spread across emails, documents, and meetings. Ping centralizes it, so you:

  • Stay on top of client deadlines.

  • Keep a detailed client history for audits or IRS interactions.

  • Save time on admin so you can focus on client relationships and tax strategy.

What support options do I get from Ping Assistant? Can I speak to a real person?

Your user experience on Ping is their highest priority. An internal team of engineers and the co-founders handle all support. Ping offers in-app support, email support, and direct access to our team for demos, onboarding, and troubleshooting. They pride themselves on this quote: "We’re a people-first company—when you need a human, you’ll get one."

How much does Ping Assistant cost?

Ping is $30 per user, per month on a monthly plan. It is $24/ month if billed annually.

Pssst: Can I let you in on a secret? I am a Pinger. Yes, I use the software in my own practice, and I'm a believer in it. So much so that I've had Camden join me on my YouTube channel to share about Ping. You can find the video below. But also, if you use my promo code: Timalyn-Bowens, you'll receive a discount on your purchase. In full transparency, Ping will show me some monetary love, so it is a win-win-win for all 3 of us. Be sure to mention my name and type in Timalyn-Bowens when you make your purchase.
